A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO BECOMING A WRITER

Join the Secret Society of Published Authors

I started writing my first novel in my teens. I thought it was pretty good, so I showed it to my mom.

Mom was an avid reader. And never shy with her opinions.

She liked it. She said I should see about getting it published.

We talked about the book. What it would look like. What it would mean to me to be a writer. She was on board.

And that’s where the conversation – and the story – ended.

Because neither one of us knew what to do next.

I tried sending a copy to a couple of publishers, only to never hear from them again.

Eventually, I gave up.

Not the writing, just the hoping.

As I grew up, went away to school, and discovered the infant Internet, I began to piece it together. I was 35 years old the first time I pitched an article to our local newspaper. (Nailed it!!)

And the rest is history.

But it took me soooo long to figure out how to get some skin in the game.

Geez I wish I knew then what I know now!!

And knowing what I know now, I feel it is my sworn duty to share. I know there are people out there – people like me, like you – who just want – no, need – to get their words out into the world.

And I need to help you. There’s no great mystery. You don’t need a relative who owns a great publishing house. It’s not a secret club.

I have answers to get you started. All you have to do is ask.

(Technically, you don’t even need to ask. I’m talking here. Whether anyone’s listening or not…)
